I am a believer, a wife, a mother, a Bestselling author, an entrepreneur, and a survivor of suicide who utilizes my faith, gifts, personal experience, and education to provide information, inspiration, and healing to individuals who are trapped in the deeply distressing emotions of sorrow, bereavement, and trauma. My main focus is on mothers and others, with the intention of shedding light on mental wellness and suicide prevention. Love Heals
As Leo Tolstoy said: "Only people who are capable of loving strongly can also suffer great sorrow, but this same necessity of loving serves to counteract their grief and heals them.”
The depth of love felt for a deceased loved one forespeaks the depth of grief for that loss. It makes sense that the closer you are to the person, the greater the loss, thereby the deeper the grief. Grief is our natural response to any type of loss. According to some therapists, there are seven stages (including the five we often hear of). In addition to denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance are upward turn and reconstruction. These happen in no particular order and a few may overlap at times. The problem is not necessarily with the stages of grief, but being stuck in any stage. If I can do it, you can too.
The good news is that no one has to be stuck. Our love for our loved one (because it never goes away) can now be shifted to our overall healing. They would want that for us. Though the grief process must happen, it can be done in a way that promotes holistic health. Love is the key. Love reaches to the ends of the earth and beyond. Love heals and transforms. Second Corinthians, chapter 13 of the Holy Bible speaks specifically about the power of love. Love holds our hand as we go through the grief process and sets us on a journey to healing and transformation. Love shows us the way. Love heals. Love wins.
